WhatsApp Introduces Email Verification for Enhanced iPhone User Privacy

Here's what it is...

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature allowing users to link their accounts with an email address.

The Meta-owned app has unveiled a privacy update for iPhone users, enabling them to associate an email address with their accounts. Accessible in-app version 23.24.70, this feature facilitates account login during situations where receiving the 6-digit code via SMS is temporarily challenging.

To utilize this feature, users should navigate to WhatsApp Settings > Account. This provides an alternative login option for scenarios where receiving the 6-digit code via SMS is temporarily challenging. It's essential to note that a phone number is still mandatory for creating an account, and the choice to log in with a phone number remains unchanged. WhatsApp is not replacing phone numbers with email addresses; instead, this feature offers users an additional access option.

As noted earlier, this feature is currently accessible to iOS users and is anticipated to be introduced to Android users in the near future.
