UP Police Arrest Woman for Torturing Husband with Cigarette Burns

Victim Endures Severe Abuse in Domestic Assault


In Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, police reported the arrest of a woman who allegedly attempted to murder her husband by restraining him, burning him with cigarettes, and strangling him. 

As per the complaint lodged by the victim, Mannan Zaidi (35), at Syohara police station, his wife, Mehar Jahan, allegedly laced his milk with an intoxicating substance on the night of April 29th.

Alleged CCTV footage that surfaced online appears to show Mehar Jahan smoking beside her husband, who was tied to a bed. In the video, she is seen burning him with a cigarette, sitting on his chest, and attempting to strangle him.

Following the complaint, a case was filed against Jahan under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 328 (administering stupefying drug with intent to cause hurt, etc.), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police have confirmed that Ms. Jahan was subsequently arrested on Sunday.
