Tragic Fire Kills Six in Delhi Building

Investigation Initiated in Multi-Storey Blaze Incident…


A fire in a multi-story building in northwest Delhi's Pitampura area on Thursday evening resulted in the tragic death of six individuals, with one person sustaining injuries, according to officials.

 

Officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire that originated on the first floor of the building.

 

At 8 pm, authorities received a call reporting a blaze at plot no. 37, ZP block, Pitampura. Eight fire tenders were promptly deployed to address the situation, as confirmed by fire officials.

 

Seven individuals were rescued with the aid of local police and promptly taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. Tragically, six of them, including four women, were declared deceased at the hospital, according to a statement from a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official.

 

An additional statement from a DFS officer indicated that the fire was extinguished within an hour, and efforts for the cooling operation were in progress.

 

According to a police officer, the fire originated on the first floor of the building, with the resulting smoke engulfing the three floors above it.

 

Preliminary information suggests that the victims in the incident belonged to two distinct families. The deceased individuals were aged between 25 and 60, as reported.

 

Additional information reveals that the ground floor served as a parking area, while the remaining floors were residential, according to the statement.

 

The police have indicated that further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
