Kota Student hangs Self

Note says, "Sorry mummy papa ... yahi last option hai..."

In Kota, a young JEE aspirant, 18, took her own life at home on the eve of the Tuesday test, marking the second suicide of an entrance exam candidate in the coaching hub within a week.

Residing in Kota's Shiv Vihar Colony, the girl left behind a purported suicide note addressed to her parents, indicating that the exam preparation pressure had taken a toll on her, according to DSP Dharmveer Singh.

The note reads, "Mummy papa, I can't do JEE, so suicide. I am a loser, the worst daughter. Sorry mummy, papa... yehi last option hai." The girl's cousin, the eldest among three sisters, shared that she was under intense stress. Planning to retake her Class XII exam this year to enhance her scores, she had performed below expectations previously. Despite being a diligent student, she devoted around seven to eight hours daily to her studies.

The girl's father, employed as an armed guard in a private bank, comes from Akawdakhurd village in Jhalawar district. The family, residing in Kota for approximately three years, shared this information, as stated by DCP Singh.

A 19-year-old NEET aspirant from UP's Moradabad district took his own life in his hostel room on January 23. Having prepared for the exam at a Kota institute for over a year, his tragic death adds to the toll. Kota recorded 26 student suicides in 2023.
