Forecast: Light Rain Expected in Delhi Today

Cool Weather to Persist

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light rain in Delhi on Monday, with cloudy skies and gusty winds expected to continue for the next five days. Following Saturday's rainfall, the city has experienced a welcomed break from the intense heat.

Parts of the national capital experienced light rain on Sunday, with the maximum temperature reaching 32.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature dropping to 21.4 degrees.

According to the latest bulletin from the weather office, Delhi can expect maximum and minimum temperatures of around 33 and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Monday.

While no rain is forecasted from Tuesday to Thursday, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy with strong winds prevailing during this period.

The IMD has forecasted light rain and thundershowers for Friday and Saturday.

Starting from Tuesday, the temperature is expected to rise, with the maximum reaching around 38 degrees Celsius by Friday.

At least 22 Delhi-bound flights were diverted on Saturday due to heavy rain. The sudden downpour in parts of the national capital provided relief from the heat.

The rain in Delhi was triggered by an active western disturbance over northwest India, according to the IMD.

The IMD had also predicted light rain accompanied by gusty winds on Sunday.

April 11 marked Delhi's hottest day of the season, with the maximum temperature reaching 39.1 degrees Celsius, the highest recorded in the city so far this year.

The IMD reported that the temperature on April 11 was four notches above the season's average.
