Delhi experienced its coldest day of this winter season with the maximum temperature dropping to a two-year-old low of 13.4°C, six degrees below normal, the Met Office said.

On Wednesday morning the minimum temperature recorded was 7.1°C, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

A “yellow alert” has been sounded for the national capital on Wednesday with the maximum temperature likely to be around 16°C. 

The western disturbance influenced other parts of the northern plains and brought drizzle to isolated locations in the city. Delhi's air quality remained "very poor" with a reading of 343.
