Delhi is Colder than Shimla

The temperature drops to 4.9 degrees


This morning, New Delhi experienced its coldest day of the season as the minimum temperature dipped below five degrees Celsius, with the IMD's Safdarjung monitoring station recording 4.9 degrees Celsius.

 

Delhi is currently experiencing colder temperatures than Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius, while Delhi's maximum temperature yesterday was 24.1 degrees. The forecast suggests that Delhi will remain around 24 degrees, while Shimla's maximum temperature is expected to reach 15 degrees today.

 

Yesterday, Delhi reported a minimum temperature of 6.2 degrees and was the lowest in this year's winter season. The national capital has been witnessing below-normal temperatures for a couple of days. The minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius, on Tuesday at 6.8 degrees Celsius and on Monday at 6.5 degrees Celsius.

 

This morning, multiple monitoring stations in Delhi reported 'Very Unhealthy' air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeding 250. In Anand Vihar, the AQI reached 475, classifying the air quality as 'hazardous.' Contrastingly, yesterday's 9 am overall AQI was 358, categorized as 'very poor.'

 

This morning, northern and northeastern regions of India encountered fog, impacting visibility. The IMD reported very dense fog in isolated pockets of Punjab. Additionally, at 5:30 am, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura experienced shallow to moderate fog in isolated areas.
