Bomb Threats Target Nearly 100 Schools in Delhi

Home Ministry Dismisses Threats as Hoax

Almost 100 schools in Delhi and the National Capital Region have evacuated students early due to a bomb threat received via email. Police are conducting thorough searches, but nothing suspicious has been found yet.

Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa told NDTV, "We are taking all appropriate measures at the schools that received bomb threats. I urge parents not to panic, as we have not found anything suspicious."

Another police officer commented, "This appears to be a mischief, as a large number of schools have received such emails to spread panic."

The Union Home Ministry has stated that the threats seem to be a hoax, emphasizing that there is no need to panic. "It appears to be a hoax call. Delhi Police and security agencies are taking necessary steps as per protocol," the government mentioned in a statement.

The Lieutenant Governor of the national capital, VK Saxena, stated that the police have tracked down the source of the bomb threat emails, which seem to be a hoax.

Mr. Saxena assured citizens of Delhi, stating, "The Delhi Police have identified the source of the emails. I want to assure the citizens that the police are vigilant, gathering leads, and will take decisive action."

In an email to parents, DPS stated, "We want to inform you that the school has received an email posing a threat to the safety and security of the students. As a precautionary measure, we are dismissing students and sending them home immediately."

The school premises were evacuated after the local police were informed. Visuals from the schools depicted parents rushing to pick up their children.

Bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and officials from the Delhi Fire Service have been dispatched to the schools.

As a precautionary measure, some schools that have not received any threats have also decided to dismiss students early and send them home.
